Alpacas are considered one of the easiest livestock animals to care for.

Here are the reasons why:

  • Alpacas are clean and do not smell.
  • Alpacas are small and easy to handle.
  • Alpacas are intelligent and can be trained.
  • Alpacas require very minimal housing in most any environment.
  • Alpacas require minimal fencing.
  • Alpacas require very little additional feed besides pasture grass.
  • Alpacas are extremely disease resistant.
  • Alpacas require very little veterinary intervention.
  • Alpacas can be pastured at 5-10/acre
  • Alpacas do not bite, or butt.
  • Alpacas are quite, reserved animals.

alpaca_care_pic.jpg (8038 bytes)Most alpacas will live comfortably in any environment with an inexpensive three sided shed and pasture grass. In colder climates, hay is supplemented during the winter months when the ground is covered by snow. Constant access to fresh , clean water is also a requirement.

Our herd of around 30 alpacas require only about 2 hours per day maximum to care for all 30! This includes optional supplemental feeding, manure pick-up, herd evaluations, minimal grooming and optional herding to indoor housing at night.

Your decision to invest in alpacas will not disrupt your current schedule. The minimal care that is required allows investors to run other businesses right along with their alpaca business. Those that have decided to raise alpacas as their sole source of income have done so out of the love and passion (not to mention profitability) that they have developed with their alpacas. If your not careful, it will happen to you too!
